Vallejo Dog Training Club
The Vallejo Dog Training Club (VDTC) is a California non-profit group of dog enthusiasts that promote dog training, host and attend dog related events and avidly show and compete in AKC events. The club has been in existence since 1948 and is a sanctioned member of the American Kennel Club Association.
Our members have dogs of all sizes and breeds. From Champions with pedigrees to the humblest of mutts, all dogs are welcome to enroll in our classes. Members attend monthly meetings and help with classes as well as our annual Obedience, Rally, Agility, FCAT Trials and Workshops. We also attend local parades and participate in community service and other fun events with our dogs.
Any member will be happy to explain about club perks. Membership application form: membership_form.docx

Our Philosophy
- At VDTC we use reward based training methods that are based on the science of animal behavior.
- We train without force, intimidation or pain. We use rewards like food, toys, play and praise to motivate and encourage our dogs to think and learn. We create training scenarios where dogs can learn through their successes to earn rewards instead of training them to avoid corrections and punishment. We use collars or harnesses in classes and do not allow e-collars, choke chains or pinch/prong collars in classes. Show leads are used for conformation training only.
- We strive to build relationships between people and their dogs. We look for signs of fear, anxiety and stress in dogs and we train to reduce, manage and minimize that fear, anxiety and stress. We want dogs to be successful, earning rewards, staying engaged and having fun during training. We want people to become better trainers, building engagement and having fun with their dogs.
