Our pet dog classes offer dogs the opportunity to learn new skills in a group environment using science based positive reinforcement methods that are fun for people and dogs of all ages! What we are doing to keep students safer from COVID
What we are doing to keep students safer from COVID
- All state and local guidelines are followed.
- The VDTC facility is only open for students and members, not the general public.
- Instructors and assistants are vaccinated & boosted and masked while indoors.
- Classes will be working outdoors for portions of the class time to reduce indoor time.
- VDTC warehouse roll up door and exterior doors will be open for airflow.
- Students will be notified in the event of possible COVID-19 exposure.

How to register for VDTC pet dog classes

PUPPY Preschool $150
50 min a week for 4 weeks at VDTC Taught by Trish Iriye For puppies 6 mo and under only. Puppy Preschool is a structured class that provides learning and socialization for pups who have been seen by a local vet and had at least one round of puppy shots. This class is an on leash class, not just a playgroup. We offer safe and fun exposure to different people and other pups while practicing foundation behaviors like attention/ focus, puppy handling, come, sit, down, hand target and more. BEGINNING MANNERS A Indoor Training $150
Save $50 when you enroll in Manners A & B together 1 hour a week for 4 weeks at VDTC Taught by Trish Iriye Positive reinforcement group class for non reactive dogs of all ages with proof of age appropriate vaccines. This one hour class meets indoors once a week for 4 weeks. Dogs learn how to focus on you in a group environment while practicing basic skills including sit, down, stay, hand target, leave it, and great recall games. Manners B starts the following week (week 5) for 4 weeks of real world practice and new skills at different Benicia parks. Class fees are not refundable after start of class. BEGINNING MANNERS B Out on the Town $150 1 hour a week for 4 weeks at public Benicia locations for real world training Taught by Trish Iriye Beginning Manners B is the second half of the Beginning Manners course and expands on the foundation skills taught in session A. Practice putting basic skills to work in real life "out with your dog" scenarios at different Benicia parks and walking areas. CANINE GOOD CITIZEN (CGC) $150
1 hour a week for 4 weeks at various Benicia locations for real world training Taught by Trish Iriye Graduates of our Manners classes will refine their training through exercises designed to strengthen and improve a dog's real life manners and qualify them to pass the CGC Test. Each week we’ll review and practice the 10 items for the CGC test. 1) Polite Greeting 2) Sit for Petting 3) Tolerate Handling for Grooming 4) Walk on a Loose Leash 5) Sit and Down on Cue 6) Stay and Recall 7) Reaction to Distractions 8) Walk Thru a Crowd 9) Meeting a Friendly Person with a Dog 10) 3 Minute Separation from Owner |
